Some people thought that "iPhone, Nokia fight begins". The fight for dominance in top end mobile phone was not unexpected at all, the reason that the Finnish giant launched its best phone in India. Feature wise the N96 seems to be better placed than 8GB Apple iPhone that would cost almost similar to what N96 is being priced around Rs 34,999. "In the Web 2.0 era, the new Nokia N96 places the power to shape in internet in your hands. Nokia N96 offers the most personalised mobile internet experience to date and it defines convergence by blending phone and multimedia options seamlessly," said Marketing Director Devinder Kishore of Nokia India. After the India, Nokia announced that its N96 handset will be launching in the UK on October 1st and will be available via 3, Phones 4U, T-Mobile and Vodafone. But the Orange and O2 may get N96 earlier than the others. ![]() In UK, the partnership with the BBC could prove to be a huge selling point. Simon Ainslie, managing director at Nokia, said about the iPlayer that, "The Nokia N96 is going to provide a gateway to quality viewing on the move and will raise the bar for mobile screen and audio entertainment. The enormous success of iPlayer has demonstrated the desire audiences have for accessing programmes at a time and a place that suits them" And N96 will bring movies and more to North America. The Nokia N96 with America’s 3G support is expected to be available during the fourth quarter of 2008 for an estimated price of USD 895 (before tax and subsidies).
